Milan, 5 October 2022 – The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R sets a new benchmark for the Lamborghini Urus Performante with the tire that has conquered the legendary Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, setting a new benchmark in its class record. Lamborghini has chosen the P Zero Trofeo R as the original tires for the new super SUV.
When the Urus was launched, six Pirelli tires were certified as original: the 21-, 22- and 23-inch P Zero, which fully demonstrated the vehicle’s high performance on the road; the 22-inch P Zero Corsa, which was designed to perform at the extreme of the track. fun to drive; and the 21-inch Scorpion Zero All Season and 22-inch Scorpion Winter for safe driving in all terrains and low temperatures. In order to adapt to the characteristics of SUV models, Pirelli has modified the P Zero Trofeo R for the first time. Compared to the regular P Zero Trofeo R, the modified tires fitted to the Lamborghini Urus Performante can further meet the vehicle’s high performance in different road conditions and temperatures. The new tires can also conquer some famous tracks, such as the legendary Pikes Peak hillclimb in Colorado. Pirelli test driver Simone Faggioli, a multi-time hillclimb champion, set a new record with the Urus Performante, which took only 10:32.064, breaking the 2018 class record of 10:49.902.
Like all Pirelli tires fitted to Lamborghini models, the birth of this special P Zero Trofeo R tire is inseparable from the collaboration between Pirelli and Lamborghini, a long-standing partnership that dates back to 1963. The technical cooperation between the two companies is based on the concept of “tailor-made”, based on this strategy, Pirelli creates tailor-made tires for each model of the high-end and prestige car manufacturers that cooperate with each other.
