Hi, hello,
It has been more than half a month since the last Newsletter. For the past time, I’ve been building myself some productivity tools to optimize my own workflow.
Thinking about it, in fact, I have been doing this for a long time in the past:
- Logoly is to design a simple and elegant logo faster.
- The WordPress Chinese grammar check plugin is to no longer copy the content of the article to the WeChat public account / Graphite for grammar check.
In the past half a month, I have created two tools for myself: ” Copy To Wechat ” and ” Filter Featured Image “.
Copy To WeChat
All along, my blog update frequency is higher than that of WeChat official account, the main reason is that I prefer the editing experience in the WordPress backend and the experience that the content is under control. However, it is very troublesome to publish WordPress articles to the WeChat public account because it cannot be directly synchronized, and I rarely update the WeChat public account.
In order to reduce the resistance of my WeChat public account, I developed a new plugin – Copy To Wechat.
Copy To Wechat provides a simpler way of typesetting WeChat official accounts – adding a sentence ?wx
at the end of the article can automatically apply the WeChat official account style set in advance, and generate several copy buttons on the interface. In this way, when publishing the WeChat public account, the formatted content can be copied to the WeChat public account more quickly, and the time to publish an article can be shortened.
As far as I am concerned, publishing an article on a public account has been reduced from 5 minutes in the past to 1 minute today. The resistance of my WeChat public account has also become smaller.
Now, this plugin has been listed on the official WordPress market. If you also want to use this plugin, please go to the official WordPress market to check this plugin. In addition, I have prepared a simple tutorial using asparagus to help you get started with this plugin faster.
Filter Featured Image
With the image bed problem resolved, I now add featured images when writing articles in the WordPress backend. But my blog has been written for nearly five years, and many historical articles do not have featured images. If you want to get a better experience, you have to turn over them one by one, check whether there are featured images, and set the featured images. The whole process is quite cumbersome.
To this end, I developed Filter Featured Image: a plugin that supports filtering featured images. After installation, there will be an additional filtering tool in the article list, which can be used to filter articles with featured images.
Combined with the Featured Image Admin Thumb plugin, now I only need to filter out all the pictures without featured images in the published articles, and then I can set featured images in the article list, which greatly speeds up the progress of setting featured images.
As things stand now, I’m on track to have all the 487 articles I don’t have a featured image set properly featured and tags next week. If you want to try it out, check out my 2-minute instructional video on making asparagus
Summarize
Writing two plugins seems like a lot of time, but it also gives me more possibilities – what I used to take five minutes to do now only takes one minute, and I can do more; Things that haven’t been done can now be done more easily. Every time I step on a pit, it is a new blog article for me.
Although it seems that the ROI is not high, it is not a loss when you think about it, right?
