Recently, in my spare time, I have been playing games such as eating chicken, pesticides, billiards, and Landlords to pass the time, and chasing a few more online novels, so that I no longer care about the management, programming, and financial courses in MOOCs and open courses. After a few e-books were uploaded to the Kindle, I only turned a few pages, and I didn’t have much energy to read the paywall.
Why is this so? Games bring joy for a moment, but later it is spiritual emptiness, fatigue and sore eyes. Learning is beneficial but not harmful. It is self-evident, but I understand the truth, but I can’t control it For myself, I would rather be bored enough to play Doudi Zhu and billiards than to turn on the Kindle and read carefully. It is true that most technical books are boring, but the courses in open classes are generally more exciting and interesting, which shows that interest is not the decisive factor for me.
Thinking about it carefully, I think the key is that learning requires long-term concentration and thinking, and it is easy to be interrupted, but lacks enough positive motivation, which can be described as a hard job. In school, there are teachers’ supervision, classmates’ discussions and competitions, and more importantly, occasional homework and exams to verify the effectiveness of learning. However, this kind of environment has disappeared in college. If you fail a subject, you can make up the exam, but if you fail the exam, you can retake it, which greatly weakens the pressure of learning. I have always been accustomed to passive learning, and my motivation and enthusiasm for learning have greatly diminished. I am addicted to games and novels. Instead, he was complacent and passively finished his studies. The scope of active learning is limited to the interests. I occasionally borrow a few books and magazines without taking any notes, and most of the content has been forgotten. After arriving at work, the situation has not changed much. Most of the learning is to solve work problems or prepare for interviews. Self-learning things are usually just a demo to verify, but they are rarely applied in actual scenarios, unable to apply what they have learned, and no one communicates and discusses, which makes them often feel depressed and do not know the meaning of such learning. In short In short, learning lacks positive feedback and it is difficult to persevere.
How to change this situation and improve the motivation of learning? The general ideas are:
- Join the community, open source projects
- Blog sharing and welcome to discuss (blog garden, brief book, etc.), long-term and stable updates and replies, gain a sense of accomplishment by helping others
- Learning point system (record your own learning time, content, and results, and get the corresponding certificate if you don’t bother)
- Pay attention to interaction and communication, persevere
Facts have proved that the above is nonsense. There are two types of “learning”, utilitarian and non-utilitarian, or useful and useless. Useful, useful enough, and effective enough, there is no one who is not willing to learn. It’s useless to see if it’s fun. It is much more difficult to appreciate the joy of reading than enjoying games and short videos.
