- Canyoning is a popular outdoor sport in summer. It descends from top to bottom from the edge of the main body of the waterfall, or slides down the water.

The first canyoning in 2023 will be at Yeren Bay in Liuyin Town, Beibei. I have also experienced canyoning before, and I can’t forget the first canyoning in Jindao Gorge, so when I saw a new map to explore this year, I couldn’t wait to rub my hands.
Since it only started operating in July, there is an early bird price of 128 for two people, which is very cost-effective. I vaguely remember that last year’s Jindaoxia Canyoning was nearly 200 per capita, but after playing it, I still feel emotional, you get what you pay for, Savage Bay Canyoning is still very suitable for beginners of canyoning.
The total distance is 2.5km, and the official time is 3H. We are rookies who like to play and have participated in outdoor activities for a long time.
You have to drive to Savage Bay. We didn’t drive, but we managed to find a doctor brother who was willing to take us. After an appointment time, we set off. The main city is about 70km to the destination and it takes 1.5 hours to drive.
There is a dam at the destination where you can park for a fee; then walk 50 meters down the slope, and a ticket will be issued to you after the ticket is checked. Bags can be stored in the next room, and the price is not expensive, only 10 yuan. If you don’t want to spend this money, you can also take it and put it in the car. As a newly opened canyoning, the life jackets, knee pads, elbow pads, and helmets are all clean. The toilet and shower facilities are relatively clean and have no peculiar smell. This is an advantage that must be maintained.
Make a list of canyoning items for friends who are interested in this sport:
- Quick-drying clothes (swimsuits and swimming trunks are fine, preferably long-sleeved trousers to prevent bumps)
- Labor protection gloves (if the skin is soft, please wear it)
- Sunscreen (I use Lancome Xiaobai 50+++, which has a good waterproof effect)
- Mobile Waterproof Bag
- Waterproof bag (5L is enough for Savage Bay canyoning, if you need to bring food for a longer time, you can buy a bigger one)
- River-tracing shoes (Decathlon has special river-tracing shoes, if you don’t want to buy extra, one-piece hole shoes with a heel can also make do.
As a four-in-one sport of hiking, rock climbing, diving and swimming, the beginning of Savage Bay Canyoning is a dry stream, with big stones and the scorching sun.
When everyone was muttering about how long it would take to get water, the clear stream appeared in front of them, and they couldn’t help but immerse their arms in it to cool down.
Not long after the journey, we encountered the part of diving. Before anyone saw him, he heard his sound first, and bursts of thud thud rang in his ears, and he could see the “depth charges” blasting in the water one by one, the kind that didn’t make any splash at all.
After plucking up the courage to jump down with the gay men in front, I found that the girls behind were almost all down the cliff, and lamented that I was still that brave and adventurous girl. The moment you jump down, you will feel that you have lost yourself, and when you float up from the bottom of the water, you will realize the importance of yourself. Taking risks has the potential to be painful, but the emptiness of not taking risks is even more painful.
The rest of the route is not too difficult, if you have a pair of shoes that are not too slippery, half the battle will be achieved. If you have good physical fitness, you can walk and play, but if you are not physically fit, you can only whine and mourn, so the usual walking distance is not in vain.
At the end, a ceremonial certificate issuance link was designed for everyone, and you can also paint oil paintings on your face. The water here has become very stable. Some people set up a canopy for camping here, and dogs are playing happily in the water. If you don’t want to exercise canyoning, you can just come and drink tea leisurely. The dog days and the refreshing stream water are absolute CPs. And I just feel that the difficulty is too low.
The distant mountains are long, the clouds and mountains are chaotic, the dawn mountains are green, the Shaxi River is urgent, the Shuangxi River is cold, and the Moon River is bright.
The biggest regret this time is that I didn’t get to see the little cats in Liuyin Town. I don’t know if you have survived the cold winter.
