In fact, I finished watching the movie version of “Slam Dunk” yesterday, which is the second batch of people in this small city who have watched this animated movie. If I can draw, I should have written this film review yesterday afternoon with enthusiasm. After all, almost all websites and platforms related to ACG and young people were publishing critics about this movie yesterday. It can almost be said that as long as you have the words “Slam Dunk” in your works, you can attract a large number of readers to come and support you. But I’m waiting, waiting for my enthusiasm to wear off, wondering how much my mind likes this animated movie.
First of all, this is a movie that deserves a five-star rating. The original author Inoue Takehiko who acted as the director did not think of making this animated film into a purely fan-oriented or sentimental film. In fact, as long as Takehiko Inoue completely reproduces the content of the manga, and then uses those famous animated version OP and ED as the theme song and episode, the movie will be successful enough, and it will be enough for fans to wave their money to pay for their own back then. Youth pays. But in the end Takehiko Inoue did not do this. On the premise of respecting his original work, he boldly used parallel editing to use Miyagi Ryota as the male protagonist to complete his character arc. So this movie may not be so pure, but it is definitely so good. Because this will not only allow fans to remember their youth, but also allow ordinary audiences to appreciate the growth of a male high school student. Therefore, this movie cannot simply be regarded as the theatrical version of “Slam Dunk”, but should be “the first Slam Dunk” movie.
Secondly, many people don’t understand why Miyagi Liangtian was chosen as the leading actor. In fact, I understand this choice. First, Miyagi Ryota is actually the only character in the original manga whose background has not been completed. The other four tigers of Shonhoku have their own complete background stories. If you have to attack Rukawa Kaede, Sakuragi Hanamichi, Mitsui Hisashi, and Akagi Takenori, it will only cause disorder in the settings and ultimately destroy the original integrity of the characters. Of course, if you want to say that it is not impossible to cut in from characters such as Fujima Kenji and Sendo Akira, but this is probably regarded as a fan movie of “Slam Dunk”, not a canon movie. Second, Miyagi Ryota should be the most “mortal” among the five tigers in northern Hunan. Mitsui Hisashi and Rukawa Kaede are the kind of existences who are “the pride of heaven” when they appear on the stage; Akagi Takenori is the top model student in the school. Yingmu Huadao is a typical example of God chasing and feeding food that all sports boys envy. If you cut into the movie from them, the audience’s sense of substitution will not be very strong. I admit that “Shuangwen” is very popular, but Shuangwen is just Shuangwen. What do you remember after it’s over? Even a Marvel superhero movie won’t be purely cool, it will put some thought-worthy content into it. Because for creators, no one wants their works to be thrown away like toilet paper.
We divide the film into two parts, the national competition and the growth of Miyagi Ryota. Because in fact, the two parts of the movie can be edited separately. Of course, the growth of Miyagi Ryota will affect the progress of the national competition, but it seems that there is nothing wrong with cutting them all.
The part of the national competition is actually somewhat imperfect. I admit that many famous scenes have been preserved, such as: Miyagi Ryota and Sakuragi Hanamichi’s surprise score in the opening game, Sakuragi Hanamichi’s face goal and so on. And the most exciting, Sakuragi Hanamichi’s “My most glorious time is now” and Sakuragi and Rukawa’s “Century High Five” have been preserved and highlighted. But it is regrettable that Jun Uozumi’s explanation of Takenori Akagi was deleted; at the same time, Kaede Rukawa’s self-awareness was not paved enough. Of course, as a manga reader, you probably don’t need these shots to fully imagine it. What made some fans dissatisfied was that the phrase “I like basketball the most” that Sakuragi said to Haruko after the injury was also deleted. In fact, it is not a failure to delete the love line in the movie, because isn’t our youth surrounded by passionate friendship and regretful love? Youthful feelings are always poetry, so it would be boring to spread them out. You can’t let Sakuragi, Rukawa and Haruko fall in love in a triangle. In the end, Haruko got pregnant and had an abortion, Sakuragi dropped out of school, and Rukawa transferred to go abroad, right?
Miyagi Ryota’s growth story is actually a bit vulgar, and almost everything can be guessed. But this does not prevent the director from telling the story well and making the story logical. I can’t say that I empathize with Miyagi’s experience, but I can understand and understand his growth. I think Takehiko Inoue intends to portray a Showa male character in the Reiwa era, right?
The content of the national competition is no stranger to any manga reader, because it is so passionate but also so regrettable.
In fact, for me who was still young, I don’t understand why Shohoku has defeated Japan’s No. 1 Sanno but still can’t win the championship? According to the ending of the comic, what is the meaning of the “domination of the whole country” established by the protagonists? Is this manga dead?
But when I grew up, I realized that life will never be so smooth. Everyone has their high moments and their low moments. Even you never know whether the next step will fall into a deep valley, and whether you will fall to the bottom, or when you will be able to get out of this trough or you will never go out again…
If you are still confused, I hope to remember someone once asked you: Do you like basketball?
