On the last day of our special collaboration month, we will admire the collections of the Rijksmuseum . We hope you like it! : )

Well, it’s time for Rachel Ruysch!

Rachel Ruich is a still life painter from the north of the Netherlands. Specializing in flowers, she creates her own style. She has a good understanding of painting and early traditional techniques. Her father, a professor of anatomy and botany, had an extensive collection of animal skeletons, minerals, and plant samples that Ruihi used to practice drawing skills. Her work is playful and colorful. She pays great attention to every detail in her work. Each petal is meticulously crafted with delicate brushstrokes. Ruihi created hundreds of paintings, more than 250 of which have been documented or attributed to her. She was famous all her life. When she died at 86, 11 poets paid tribute to her with poems about her.

Of course, Ruihi is also one of the artists in our ” 50 Postcard Sets for Women Artists “. Check it out, it’s all beautiful work!

Side note: Rachel Ruich is an amazing and accomplished artist who deserves to be in the spotlight just like any other female artist who has been wiped from art history. Check out our Women Artists series to give you a better understanding of famous and unknown female artists to remember!
