Summary for November 2022

The word “expenditure” in the title was removed, because in summary, I think I am… quite frugal! I will still make an expense statement, but by the way, I will take care of what I have done this month.

Tech Industry Layoffs

The biggest movement around me in November was the huge amount of layoffs in the technology industry. Our company also sneaked a wave of layoffs under the headlines of layoffs of various giants. From the CEO sending an email saying that he would lay off employees to confirming who left each group, there were no to two hours. Two people left our team, one is the technical leader of our team, and the other is a brother who has been in the company for 9 years, but they are both American citizens, there is no visa problem, and the compensation is quite good Feet, when leaving… It’s hard to ignore the beaming brother who is carrying the handle.

What’s more disgusting is that there are always some idiots in interview groups like One Acre and Three Points Land, trying their best to prove that the person who left layoff is his own poor performance, and he has already scolded in Mammoth:

job hopping

As for myself, I started preparing to change jobs at the end of September, and finally ended all interviews at the beginning of November. This timing is… not very good, but it avoided a catastrophe. In October, the head count of some companies came out, so I made several interviews, but by the beginning of November, the number of people looking for jobs in the market increased significantly, so that I felt that I had an ordinary interview at the end of September and got an offer. At the end of the month and the beginning of November, there were two well-prepared ones, but there were no results. One of the HRs was missing, and the other HR reported that the five rounds of feedback were good, but unfortunately there was a better interviewer who said to help me continue to find other openings in the company, but there was no follow-up, probably because there was no opening or there was too much competition. Be intense.

A big improvement is that compared with the job hunting in 2018 and 2021, there is no pressure this year. Halfway through the first two interviews, there was a feeling of “what to do if you can’t find a job? If you can’t find a job, you will not be able to live.” The sense of desperation, this year is much calmer. This ease may come from the improvement of technology, the accumulation of experience, or from a more indifferent to the world, or from saving some money last year by taking advantage of the good market.

winter in south america

The long-awaited South American winter itinerary finally came true. I stayed in Cuenca, Ecuador for two weeks, specifically in the mammoth’s South American winter tag.

Expenditure Summary

The big expense in November is going to Ecuador for the winter. If I book air tickets in advance, I can save a lot, but I have not been sure about the time until the week of departure. There is also an Airbnb that I can’t go and can’t get a refund. Yes, in short spent some wrong money friends.
