△ 183|Summer
Generally, in the period of insisting on writing, I will talk about this topic at “this time”. This is the case every year. Although there are some repetitions, I still don’t feel bored, because I experience it once a year, and I don’t think about it every year. What have you said about this before.
“In summer, I look forward to the coming of winter, and in winter, I long for an early return of summer.”
I was hospitalized last summer because of illness and missed the “achievement” that I wanted to accomplish every year but didn’t complete every year – remember the exact time to hear the first cries. When I woke up in the hospital bed, it was already midsummer outside the window. It seems that it has been stolen for half a year, and it still feels strange to this day.
This year, I actually heard the time of the first sound, but it didn’t seem to have a grand “sense of ritual”, because summer came early, and after several days of exposure, the nymphs became cicadas only because of the temperature. Just cheating. Daily writing has also persisted for almost 200 days, because it is a 500-day writing plan started on January 1, 2022. The 183rd day means that half of the year has passed. Generally speaking, the “plateau period” of persistence is generally around the 27th, 90th and 180th days. The “platform period” of about 180 days is almost devastating, and many people’s persistence rarely breaks through this time point. It’s not that they can’t stick to it, but that most people can find very reasonable excuses and tell themselves “it’s okay, it’s enough”.
On the 180th day of this time, there is no platform period, but the “stock” that was released regularly in the previous two days has been completely consumed. Near 11 o’clock today, when it should have been released regularly, I was still sitting in front of the computer “writing now” This article. So its existence is present, so thinking will return to the most present state.
I went back and looked at the last 500 days of writing “∞”. During the platform period of the 180th day, I experienced a situation where I almost “give up”. The written content is not saved. So the title of that day was “Unsaved” – it can be read that the article was full of “resentment”, and it almost felt like giving up. In the end, I still forced myself to finish writing the content of that day, and it was also returning to the most current appearance.
Human thinking is like this, its divergence and limitations depend on how the client wants it to function. If you are too lazy to think, you will not make any breakthroughs in thinking within the current scope. With plenty of time and energy, let the mind run its course, but the consequence is that it may be depleted and go into a very quiet cooldown.
Going back to the “boring thinking that happens every year” at the beginning, thinking about the beauty of winter in summer, and then sighing how I spent last summer. Is its thinking divergent or limited? I have written some novels that are not related to the plot, but only care about the emotional flow of the characters. Most readers feel “very tired” after reading it, because they need to be led by the emotions and senses of the characters in the novel. Readers are not even allowed to have any superfluous ideas, all the scenes, plots and smiles are standardized and agreed by the text. When readers’ thinking is limited to the author’s creative logic, they will of course feel “tired”, and they will not even have the “comprehension ability” for the content of more than 140 words, because they cannot extract harmony from other people’s words. Comparing and overlapping the relevant time in their own memory, they are equivalent to experiencing someone else’s experience as a complete stranger, even an experience that they thought was impossible in their lives.
Then if you think about it from another angle, if I am describing a passage about summer, I will no longer describe summer in detail, but just say “the temperature this summer makes him unable to remember how he spent this time last year. came” , it is no longer a statement, but a description. At this time, people’s thinking seems to be limited to “the heat that only the client has experienced”, but it allows readers to radiate to the “boring question” that they think of every year – “This year is so hot, last year I How did you get here?”
But there will inevitably be readers who “have no imagination”. They don’t pay attention to their own lives, or even how they live each year. They only care about what they can get tomorrow. At this time, thinking is limited back to the author’s writing itself – how can I explain what the heat the character is going through is.
Then add some conditions. “The temperature of this summer makes him unable to remember how he spent last summer, and he is not sure whether he really braved the heat and buried his wife in the back mountain at this time last year. In the forest? If it was so hot, he probably wouldn’t make this decision, after all, he is a person who is very afraid of heat.”
Well, we added more thinking constraints to it, triggering a condition: he buried his wife in the back of the mountain last year: kill her, or bereavement.
“He wanted to go back and check the weather at this time last year, if it wasn’t as hot as it is today.”
Does the character really forget that day? Or is he actually consciously avoiding and forgetting this matter-perhaps he really killed his wife to escape the fact that she existed in this way.
“Just a few days into summer, the cicadas began to neigh. The cicadas here seem to be louder – at least to cover up the sound of the deep hole he was digging with a shovel at that time – he remembered.”
In fact, this is the opening of one of the stories in “If I Were You Free After I Die”. Different from the previous ones, I try to describe the details and emotional changes as much as possible. I seem to be more and more lazy to “interact with readers” . It doesn’t matter what it is, because the final definition is not the creator’s me, but the readers who can read it and what kind of memories they can retrieve from the hippocampus.
