Tesla Falsely Promotes Autopilot, Real Hammer

A video released by Tesla in October 2016 demonstrating its self-driving capabilities was faked, according to reports from a senior Tesla engineer who testified. In that promotional video, Tesla demonstrated such capabilities: completely unmanned “stop at red light, go at green light”; automatically identify parking spaces, complete parking in a smooth manner, all fake. Not only does the automatic driving function rely on posing and pre-programming, but the Model X on display does not have corresponding functions at all. Even in the actual filming, the car once had an accident and crashed into an obstacle. | Related Reading (Qubits)

Speaking of false propaganda, Tesla may have done it more than once. Tesla has just been fined 2.852 billion won in South Korea, because the performance obtained under certain conditions is released as the general performance of the vehicle, which violates South Korean laws and regulations. However, the example of South Korea does not seem to be serious, it is just an exaggeration of performance. Today, the testimony of a senior Tesla engineer proves that the demonstration video of its autopilot is fake. South Korea’s hefty fines are even more severe.
