Went to Starbucks Kaohsiung Zhongan store for brunch during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This is a new store that just opened on September 22. The style of the container appearance echoes the containers in Kaohsiung Port. Take the 69A Xiaogang Main Line bus to and from the hotel.

Store experience

Starbucks

The exterior style is stacked containers, while the interior space is integrated. In other words, the feeling of stacked containers only ends in appearance. In comparison, the Hualien Huilan store is really just containers stacked and connected using the original space.

The gray container style is more natural than the white ones in Hualien Huilan store, and is more integrated into the local industrial texture. It’s a bit wider inside, too. This place is relatively suburban and there are no popular attractions nearby. It’s just a small, not too pretentious community cafe.

In fact, I rarely spend money at Starbucks anymore. I have a buy-one-get-one-free Starbucks coupon at home that expires at the end of September, and I plan to use it on the last day. Xiaogang Zhongan Market happened to open last week, so I decided to take a look.

The store has only been open for a week, so it is more like a trial operation and a bit chaotic. For example, I was given a meal but not cutlery, and I was given tea but not a cup. When I asked later, there weren’t even small teacups, just huge mugs. But we ended up having a leisurely brunch.

What I like most is probably the home-cooked taste here. The people who come here are all community residents (I guess Internet beauties are unlikely to go to this somewhat remote place to take photos and check in), and they are full of the quality of life.

Transportation experience

Kaohsiung City Bus

Zhong’an Road is generally the boundary between Fengshan and Xiaogang. To the north is Fengshan and to the south is Xiaogang. This area happens to be a bit of an exception. There is a small area to the north of Zhong’an Road that is still classified as Xiaogang. In short, this Starbucks is located at the intersection of Fengshan Xiaogang.

Kaohsiung City Bus

This point is far from the MRT station, and I wasn’t sure whether the bus would be convenient beforehand. I originally thought that if there was any traffic trouble, forget it. After checking, there is no need to transfer, there is a direct bus. Then let’s set off. Take the 69A Xiaogang Route and get off directly at the intersection. Soon, the train departed from Kaohsiung Station at 11:00 and arrived at the intersection of Zhongan and Gaofeng at 11:39. It’s almost like driving on a flat road by yourself.

Kaohsiung City Bus

This trip took a bus back and forth, which was more than ten kilometers one way. In recent years, rail has usually been given priority for such long distances, and buses are rarely used directly throughout the entire journey. The biggest surprise was traveling through Guiyang Road and Kongfeng Road. It must have been my first time walking through this neighborhood.

Because I have been running along Fengshan Creek in the past few years, I am familiar with the area adjacent to Fengshan on the north side of Xiaogang. I regard them as an extension of Fengshan. In fact, they are all Fengshan River basins. The distance from Dadong Wetland Park on the banks of Fengshan Creek to this store is actually less than six kilometers. But from Fengshan Transfer Station (MRT Dadong Station), whether you transfer to the MRT Red Line or the bus, you still have to go around Lingyaqian Town.

Only by driving (literally) to some places a few times and then taking a ride there will you be able to better understand the traffic texture and even see the blind spots in traffic planning.

Finally there is the sidewalk. Not surprisingly, most of the roads in this area have no sidewalks. The ditch-covered sidewalk in the photo is considered the best in this area.
