Recently, Jay Chou’s 15th album “The Greatest Work” has been officially released. Excluding previously released singles, the album has only six new songs. The title of this album is called “The Greatest Work”. There is no lack of controversy. Is it too arrogant to be too big?
I’m “Still Wandering”, in my memory you “Frosty Face”, “Wait for you after class” is by your side every day. “I Believe So”, we’ll go to see “Pink Ocean” together, “Mojito” is drunk with pink “Reflection”, and listen to “The Greatest Works” in the headphones. Well, “If You Don’t Love Me, Pull Down”. After all, “Missed Fireworks”, “Say Good Don’t Cry”, let me go…
I’m not a big Jay fan, but I’m still listening to this album seriously. Does it sound good? My answer: After listening to a new song a few times, I won’t listen to it again! Compared with the first 14 albums, the whole album is considered to be the bottom of the list. Zhou Caizi has “exhausted his talents” and has no major features. The arrangement and lyrics are not significantly different from those in the past, and he only repeats his past self again and again.
It may be that after becoming famous, marrying a wife and having children, he is keen on eating, drinking and playing with his wife and children all over the world, neglecting music creation, lacking in-depth thinking on humanistic care and social formation, and can no longer write “Tornado” and “Nunchaku”. “, “Love in the BC”, “Dongfeng Broken”, “Blue and White Porcelain”, “Stranded”, “Qilixiang”, “Sunny Day”, “In the Name of the Father” and a series of peak works. Times have changed, and I don’t expect a billionaire to write inspirational songs like “I want to climb up step by step” again; I also don’t expect a man with a happy family to write “I will go all the way.” The tragic melody of “To the North”; I don’t expect a middle-aged man in his forties to write you a young romantic love story of “I tried to hold your hand on a windy day”…
In addition, in several songs in the album, especially “Missed Fireworks”, the sound is obviously hoarse, the voice is not as good as before, it is difficult to hear the closing strength of the sound, and the treble above G4 is rarely touched. Even if there are unrestrained lyrics and arrangement ideas, it is no longer difficult to interpret with the voice of the peak era.
The above is just my personal subjective opinion, of course, I respect the right of others to express different opinions!
