The three major indicators of Chinese papers are ranked first in the world

The Nikkei reported that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology’s Institute of Science, Technology and Academic Policy analyzed the number of papers in major countries based on data from the British research firm Clarivate. Due to huge fluctuations, the data for 2019 (average from 2018 to 2020) are calculated on a 3-year average. The more times a research paper is cited by other researchers, the more it is rated as high quality. The number of “top papers” in China is 4,744, surpassing the 4,330 in the United States. In terms of share, China accounted for 27.2%, and the United States accounted for 24.9%, significantly higher than the 5.5% of the third-ranked United Kingdom. The total number of Chinese papers in the survey reached 407,181, more than 100,000 more than the 293,434 in the United States. The share of papers of interest is 26.6%, surpassing the United States (21.1%).
