Gathered with two old people today. They worked in China’s broadcasting system/media when they were young and have considerable experience in broadcasting. During the dinner, we talked about a famous podcast. The old man said that the host failed to pay attention to the technique of using the microphone, and because his voice was relatively high-pitched, when he met a guest with a deep voice, the host always seemed aggressive and harsh when answering. Listeners who have been tamed by legacy media have basic requirements for quality, while the generation who grew up listening to the new media of podcasts tend to use “good enough content” as an excuse for low quality. Production value is of course not everything, but neither is “content itself”.
