This is the 35th issue of “Three Ten Weeks”. Thanks to the new email subscribers this week, the current number of subscribers has reached 505. My next target is 610.

Restarting after an outage is difficult, which is why most people keep planning, executing, and then giving up. me too. After 200 days of memorizing words, I stopped, after I wrote 34 newsletters, I stopped. When it really stops, there can be many reasons, such as,

  • Memorizing words has entered a kind of vicious circle, constantly reviewing and cycling between 2000-3000 words.
  • The topic of the newsletter is not focused enough, written divergently, no different from a blog.

In fact, they all have an inner connection, a deep connection; in fact, the real reason is boredom, a reason that does not have any storytelling. Memorizing words is boring, and writing newsletters is boring. Today, let’s talk about this topic.

A “boring” life

Liang Wendao discussed in an episode of the program that some companies in the United Kingdom began to experiment with the four-day-a-week working system. The four-day-a-week working system was not first proposed by the United Kingdom. Some countries, including Belgium, began to try the four-day-a-week working system for various reasons. On the one hand, there are the social and psychological problems caused by the epidemic, and on the other hand, the population structure and economic situation within each country. Among them, it also includes a four-day working system a week, telecommuting, etc.

Similarly, in China, there are some reports about the Sanhe Great God , and in Beijing, I heard that there are some similar groups; and on station B, you can also see another group of people who went to distant Australia to fight. A very basic job, 10+ hours a day, but with better respect and pay. These various forms of human beings can be seen from the side, and our social structure may be changing, and some problems have arisen. Why do some people prefer to work for two days and play for three days rather than find a more formal job? Why do many young people prefer to travel across the ocean to do hard labor rather than find a more stable job in their hometown?

Whenever the problem is really exposed, the reason used to explain is just used to explain. What’s wrong with society and what’s wrong with policies, people can present facts and reason, but when problems arise, people often don’t know it, or people don’t want to believe it, it may be very simple, very boring, and It can be extremely complex, or simply messy.

It shouldn’t be too much to use “chaos” to describe everything we saw throughout the first half of the year. A lot of masters teach people how to keep their minds and deal with their own things in chaotic times, in my opinion, it’s all Bullshit, except for those who don’t need to worry about the worldly society, or even need to live in the world, everything that happens With the butterfly effect, the tornado is not today but tomorrow. Turn around and look at the economy and society: violent injuries, unfinished buildings, grassy Apple stores, unemployment, graduates, new population… When problems arise, people often don’t know it, or people don’t want to believe it .

In such an emotional medium, it’s easy to get “bored”, and I’m one of them. In the tabloids, I wrote that the epidemic has had a great impact on many people, both in life and in thought. I’m only talking about some subtle effects on my own, my own, individual.

good aspect:

  • It allows me to work from home for a long time, or simply to rest, so I have a lot of time with my children, and this time, which happens to be between 1-3 years old, needs company and is very cute period of time.
  • It gave me some time to think about my career, and indirectly led me to my current new job.
  • It makes me feel more family.
  • It gave me the resolve to switch asset allocations and luckily unlevered in a downturn.

Bad aspects:

  • I haven’t been to the cinema for a long time, and I haven’t seen the exhibition.
  • A lot less face-to-face chat with friends
  • Interrupted an annual family trip
  • Find yourself in great need of a car (but a car is a consumer product)
  • Life has lost the surprises brought by “accidents”
  • monopoly of power
  • digital governance

People lose confidence because of these bad aspects, but if someone asks me what they lose confidence in, I can’t answer, the only accurate and meaningless answer is, in this world, in the future world shaped by politics x technology. Therefore, I will choose to get close to nature to spend my “boring”, I will choose to re-read Kerouac’s “On the Road” to feel the time that has passed, and I will choose to give up typing on the keyboard to express my thoughts , and also choose to refuse to communicate with strangers and care more about their friends.

Perhaps such a rhythmic world is what the future will look like. We are in it and we don’t know it, but we can choose some things to make ourselves happy, even if we choose to be “boring”.

In the end, boredom does not mean boring, no matter when, be an interesting person and do interesting things with the people you love.

Note: Because I didn’t plan to write a newsletter, the information I saw around recently was not organized, so it’s all based on memory, there is no link, I’m very sorry

Recommended this month

After working hard to look forward to Hirokazu Koreeda’s new work, the result was no surprise, it was a painful disappointment, isn’t “The Broker” good? Maybe it’s already very good. It’s not bad if it was directed by Hiro-eda, but it’s not bad, but the whole movie can only be a passing score under the criteria of a director I deeply love.

Fortunately, Westworld is back. After several episodes of confusing timelines, S04E04 pulls everything together and gives hope again. “Awakening” and immortal “hope” are the most heartwarming explanations I’ve seen. The world controlled by robots is not necessarily bad, and it is not necessarily a robot that controls us. It may be a QR code or a pair of glasses. In short, stay skeptical, stay hopeful.
