Citing people familiar with the matter, NYT reported that the Biden administration and TikTok have drafted a preliminary agreement to address the problems posed by the video app. The two sides have hammered out the basis for a deal in which TikTok will revamp the way it secures and manages its data without requiring its owner ByteDance to sell it. The two sides are still negotiating and still face obstacles in terms of specific terms.
