Toubao-2022 White Paper on China’s Hydrogen Energy Industry: Developing Fuel Cells to Help a Hydrogen Energy Society (Report Attached)

01Policy support, accelerated development, strengthened localization trend

The “14th Five-Year Plan” puts forward a clear layout for the overall development of hydrogen energy. The policy content covers the production and supply links such as hydrogen energy production, storage, transportation and processing, as well as application fields such as industry, transportation, and energy storage. The 2022 Winter Olympics will set off a hydrogen energy boom , The trillion market is ready to go. At this stage, China’s main methods of hydrogen energy production, storage and transportation are fossil fuel hydrogen production and high-pressure gaseous long-tube trailers, and efforts are being made towards the direction of renewable energy electrolysis water hydrogen production, liquid hydrogen and pipeline hydrogen transmission; the construction of hydrogen refueling stations in China The equipment cost accounts for as high as 70%, and the localization level of equipment is insufficient. The “integrated refueling and hydrogenation” method will effectively increase the coverage of hydrogen refueling stations.

02 Emphasize the preparation of green hydrogen and focus on the application in the field of transportation

By building an international hydrogen supply chain, the Japanese government exerts the role of enterprise alliances to coordinate the development of hydrogen energy in enterprises, and builds a “government-enterprise-study” innovation platform to provide R&D technical support; the Korean government formulates hydrogen energy development planning policies from top to bottom to eliminate the need for enterprises to develop hydrogen The uncertainty of the energy industry and provide sufficient financial support to guide social capital into the hydrogen energy industry; the United States regards the development of the hydrogen energy industry as a long-term strategic reserve. Promote social stakeholders to cooperate under a competitive mechanism, while LPO’s innovative energy loans provide debt capital for projects; the European Union currently mainly regards hydrogen energy as a key means to reduce carbon emissions in key industries and protect national energy security.

03Core technology drives industrial development, helping fuel cells reduce costs and increase efficiency

Local Chinese companies continue to improve their research and development capabilities and increase their level of product autonomy. Among the 26 companies that sell fuel cell systems, more than 70% of them have stack design and integration technology, and more than half of them sell stacks as independent products; more than 50% of them have membrane electrode preparation capabilities. Although upstream core raw materials such as catalysts, proton exchange membranes, and gas diffusion layers still rely on foreign imports, the localization rate has increased year by year, and enterprises continue to overcome key upstream technologies to achieve independent production and supply.
