Bought the pre-purchased TPASS Executive Yuan Commuter Pass Card Kaohsiung Edition. Although I already have a MeNGo card and am already using the monthly pass plan, I would like to buy this card for my collection. After all, this is a major milestone for public transport in our country. (This article also applies to Tainan and Pingtung editions.)
The price of the card is one hundred yuan. Each person can receive a government subsidy of 100 yuan, limited to one time. That is, practically free. Three working days after the card is registered, you can get 100 yuan stored value by holding the card at the counters of the four major supermarkets.
This special all-in-one card has the same specifications as the long-established MeNGo card in Kaohsiung. It combines a monthly pass and a stored-value card in one. If the monthly pass function is not used, it is just a general stored-value card. If you use it as a monthly pass carrier, but the range of use exceeds the monthly pass range, the stored value card will also be deducted.
Nomenclature therefore has two pipelines. The name of the general stored-value card, or the registration of the account on the MeNGo monthly pass platform.
Here are two ways of registering names, as well as some thoughts.
Named stored value card
Stored value card and monthly pass are independent. Regardless of the status of the card’s monthly pass, it can be registered in this way.
The most convenient way is to complete the registration by linking iPASS MONEY: LINE → LINE Pay → iPASS MONEY → linking the e-ticket card → linking other cards.
After the information is entered, go to ibon or FamiPort to check the card, update the card function (automatically add value, register), and it is completed.
If you are like me, the MeNGo platform has bound a card, but it seems that you cannot bind multiple cards at present. This TPASS card can only be registered in the form of a stored value card.
Of course, the stored value card can also be registered on the official website of the card. But then you must submit photos of the front and back of the card and the front and back of the ID card. I find it a bit troublesome.
MeN Go binding card registration
If you want to use this card to buy a monthly pass, and the card has not been bound on the MeNGo platform, you can also complete the registration through this channel.
Download the MeNGo app, register as a member with your mobile phone number or Google/LINE/Facebook, and log in after successful verification.
Bind the card after login. Upload the photo of the ID card and the back of the card and enter the card number, fill in the information and submit.
Bind the card and complete the registration (not instant; it takes time to review) to purchase a monthly pass.
For details, please refer to the instructions of the MeNGo platform.
Challenges of Nangaoping Monthly Pass Promotion
The special all-in-one card that combines a monthly pass card and a stored-value card is a bit difficult for ordinary people to understand. Therefore, many people will be confused about “the existing ordinary one-card/easy card cannot be used as a monthly ticket carrier”.
The process from registering a MeNGo account, binding a card and registering a name to purchasing a monthly pass is actually a bit cumbersome, and the ease of use of the app is not particularly good.
Compared with the Beibei Jitao 1200 monthly pass (or the previous Shuangbei 1280 monthly pass), any Easy Card can be used as a monthly pass carrier, and there are many more levels. (When I applied for a monthly pass for the first time last year, my head photo and name had to be printed on the back of the card. I needed to make and take the card, which was more troublesome than it is now.)
When buying the card this time, I saw a woman holding a mobile phone, opening the LINE conversation record between her and her son, and asking the Gaojie service desk which photo to send to her son in order to use the monthly pass. I see on the screen is the front photo of TPASS.
I guess her son is going to help her set up a monthly pass, but she obviously doesn’t even have a card. Later, the service staff took her mobile phone and helped her install the MeNGo app. I don’t know if the follow-up will be smooth.
