You may know that every Sunday of the month is a special collaboration month event where we showcase collections from a museum. This August we decided to focus on a specific artistic theme, and this time it will be… dance! We have to start with Edgar Degas, because he was fascinated by ballet. Enjoy together! : )
Honestly Degas wasn’t just obsessed with ballet, he was obsessed. For him, it embodies the human condition. Dance provided him with a form from which, after much exploration, he could discover some of the secrets of humanity. These dancers, possibly from the Rosé Ballet, performed during a performance of Mozart’s Don Juan at the Paris Opera. Degas often presented modern city life with unconventional perspectives. We looked down at the two ballerinas, as if standing in a box next to the stage, watching them. They appear to be interacting, although their expressions and gestures are difficult to read. Our field of vision was deliberately cut off at the third dancer on the far left.
P.S.: Here you can see the most beautiful ballerinas by Degas! Let me tell you in advance, they are amazing!
You can also learn about Degas in the Daily Art Impressionism class . Also we want to develop a new version of the Daily Art app. Hope to get your help .
