A British court on Wednesday released a formal ruling that extradited WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to the United States to stand trial , indicted for publishing classified documents related to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Assange still has 14 days to file an appeal, but the long and storied legal battle is drawing to a close. The United States wants to try Assange over 500,000 classified war documents, and Assange has previously opposed extradition on the grounds that he could risk suicide if held in a maximum-security prison. The United States pledged in its appeal that it would not keep Assange in isolation in a maximum-security prison.
