Wall Street Bank Pays Over $2 Billion in Fines for Using Crypto Apps Like WhatsApp

U.S. regulators have announced settlements with more than a dozen Wall Street banks for breaching regulatory requirements for record-keeping using encrypted messaging apps such as WhatsApp, totaling more than $2 billion in fines . The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced a $1.1 billion fine, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced a $710 million fine, and JPMorgan Chase previously announced a $200 million fine, for a total fine of $2.01 billion.
