On September 5, WeChat Pay LifePay announced that WeChat Swipe Palm officially landed in 1500+ stores of 711 convenience stores in Guangdong, the first launch of the national retail industry.

According to reports, this payment method currently needs to go to the store to activate the service on the WeChat palm payment device, and users cannot bind it by themselves for the time being. After activation, users only need to place their palms on the special device with the ring logo to complete the payment, similar to scanning a payment code, and do not need to carry mobile phones and other devices.

It is understood that starting from the end of August, the WeChat swipe palm service has been gradually piloted in 7-Eleven in Guangdong. Customers can choose to swipe their palms to pay at the cashier counter. It is the first social application of Palm Payment in Guangzhou area.

On the morning of the 5th, the reporter personally experienced it in a convenience store located in Zhujiang New Town, Guangzhou: just point the palm of your left or right hand at the sensing aperture of the palm-swiping device twice, and then scan the QR code on the screen with your mobile phone, and you will be able to complete the process on the mobile phone. After registration, you can directly use the palm of your hand to pay in the future. The whole process only takes a few seconds, which is very convenient. Buying a cup of coffee with the “palm” is faster than taking out the phone and displaying the QR code to pay. After the payment is completed, the mobile phone will receive a prompt push of deduction.

The reporter observed on the spot that this new payment method has attracted many white-collar workers from nearby office buildings to “check in” to try it out.

It is reported that before September 30, new users who use palm payment in Guangdong 7-Eleven will also enjoy a discount of 3 yuan for the first order.

Zhang Hang, director of the retail industry of WeChat Pay, said that the retail scene has extremely high requirements on payment efficiency, and the measurement of efficiency is accurate to milliseconds. WeChat Palm Payment hopes to help merchants improve efficiency in the cash register process. In the future, it is also hoped to optimize the member payment experience in combination with the merchant’s member operation, and complete member identification, rights awareness and member payment with one swipe of the palm.

In May of this year, WeChat Pay officially launched the WeChat palm swiping service. At present, WeChat palm payment has been applied in multiple scenarios such as transportation, fitness, campus, retail, catering, office, and shared charging.

It is understood that more than 1,500 7-Eleven convenience stores in Guangdong have launched the WeChat palm payment service. In the future, WeChat palm payment will be gradually launched in convenience stores across the country.
