Recently, the resources of my MacBook Air M1 are tight, and my work is often dragged down by memory.
Although it is usually developed remotely, when there are many terminals and web pages, it is easy to reach a performance bottleneck and reduce work efficiency. So I came up with a plan to open a high-performance desktop virtual machine on a development server with sufficient computing resources. It happened that I had never used Win11 before, so I took this opportunity to experience it.
After installation, everything is fine, but the taskbar is too big to be directly adjusted to a small taskbar like Win10. Hence this article, which introduces two ways to customize the Windows 11 taskbar.

How about, has it saved a lot of valuable desktop space? Here are two methods.
Method 1 – Modify the registry (not recommended)
1. Press win+r at the same time to open Run, enter regedit in the open bar, and then press Enter to confirm to bring up the Registry Editor;
2. Then navigate to the following path in the registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
3. Right-click on the blank space on the right, choose to create a new DWORD value, and name it TaskbarSi ;
4. Double-click to open the TaskbarSi value, change the value data to 0 , and then restart the small taskbar.
(Number 0 is the small taskbar, 1 is the medium taskbar, and 2 is the large taskbar).
This method can be modified without installing third-party tools, but the adaptation is very poor. After modifying it to a small icon, the layout in the lower right corner will be chaotic, so this method is not recommended.
Method 2 – StartAllBack (recommended)
StartAllBack is a Win11 start menu enhancement tool, which can include: start menu style and operation, personalized taskbar and resource manager, etc.
With this tool, you can easily customize the Win11 taskbar, and even modify it to the Win7 style.
Go to the official website of StartAllBack to download. If you can’t open it, you can get it from the resource station of this site. The installation package name is StartAllBack_3.5.1_setup.exe
After the installation, you can find its executable program in C:\Program Files\StartAllBack , run it and customize it, you can understand it at a glance.
