“Youth Music”
[Ming] Xu Youzhen
The young man rides a steed, and his spirits are both arrogant.
Riding in the spring breeze, people look at the Wei Bridge.
Note: Wei Bridge, namely Zhongwei Bridge, is on the Wei River in the northwest of Chang’an. It is the main road from Chang’an to the northwest frontier in ancient times. Zhongwei Bridge is an important channel for social, economic, cultural and military behaviors in the Qin, Han and Tang Dynasties, and it is also the first bridge on the Silk Road after starting from Chang’an City in the Han Dynasty.
A young man should have a great ambition to ride a steed on Pingchuan.
Jiangxia Huang’s Genealogy Recognition of Ancestral Poems
The steed travels out of a foreign land,
Anything from a different place.
Deep in my years, the outside world is like my own,
After a long time, the hometown is the hometown.
Don’t forget the words of your life,
The incense of ancestors should be preserved in the morning and evening.
May the sky bless you,
The thirty-seven boys are always Chi Chang.
