Youyan Zaobao: Xbox first-party game announced price increase to $70; CDPR will no longer update “Gwent Card”

Good morning, fellow community members, the following is the Morning Post of Travel Research brought by the interns:

1. Microsoft announced that starting from 2023, the price of Xbox first-party games will increase from $60 to $70. Microsoft said the price increase was due to “the content, scale, and technical complexity of these games.”

When the price of the PS5 console was raised before, Phil Spencer was asked many times whether the Xbox had a plan to increase the price. Spencer replied that the Xbox will not raise prices in the short term, but the future is unpredictable, and he can’t guarantee that the Xbox will always maintain the current price. However, the focus of the question and answer at that time was on the price of the Xbox console, and the two parties did not mention the price of retail games too much.

This price increase only involves the retail price of games, and the prices of Xbox consoles and XGP subscription services have not changed for the time being.

2. CDPR announced that “The Witcher: The Cardinal Game of Gwent” will no longer be updated after 2023. Specifically, in 2023, CDPR will hold 2 events and release 72 new cards. After that, except for a small number of staff members who will continue to maintain the daily operation of the game, the remaining research and development forces will be invested in other projects. Although “The Witcher: Gwent Card” will not stop serving, it will not continue to update the game content.

3. The Steam page of “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor” is online, revealing that the game will be officially released on March 16, 2023, and then the release date was changed to “coming soon”.

4. Makoto Shinkai’s new work “すずめの戈苍まり” announced that the box office has exceeded 7.5 billion yen, and the Chinese translation of the film has been confirmed as “Journey to Lingya”.

5. The “League of Legends” derivative fighting game “Project L” released a developer log video, introducing the update to Illaoi and showing the battle mechanism in the game. “Project L” will operate in a basically free way, and the release date has not yet been announced.
