Uber announced today that it has relaunched its ride-sharing service in the United States after more than two years of suspension due to the pandemic.
Uber’s ride-sharing service allows riders to share a car with strangers who are heading in the same direction as their destination for a discount. Today, the service relaunches in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Diego, Portland, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. Uber also said it will launch in more cities this summer.
Uber and rival Lyft suspended ride-sharing services in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, Lyft was the first to resume service in Philadelphia and Miami. Last month Lyft said it would expand the service to San Francisco, San Jose, Denver, Las Vegas and Atlanta.
