“A Song of Ice and Fire” series author George R.R. Martin announced in a video statement that he is positive for the new crown and is currently isolating in a Los Angeles hotel. He previously attended Comic-Con in San Diego, and most likely contracted the virus at the live event. Martin said he had no symptoms after the infection, or the symptoms were so mild that he suspected a false positive, and then tested several times in a row, and it was positive. His wife, Parris McBride, and his assistant are also in isolation because of the close contact, even though they both tested negative. Martin sadly interrupted his trip to attend the premiere of House of the Dragon, the prequel to the Game of Thrones franchise. Someone joked that he might be able to write a few pages in quarantine. The fifth installment of A Song of Ice and Fire, A Dance with Dragons, was published in 2011, and the publication of the sixth installment, The Winds of Winter, has been delayed for several years and is still not completed in 2022.
