A notice issued by the Sichuan provincial government on August 14 showed that industrial electricity companies were required to suspend production in an all-round way. The time is August 15th to 20th. The target involves 19 of the province’s 21 cities (including autonomous prefectures), and it is expected that more than half of Sichuan’s approximately 16,500 enterprises (including manufacturing enterprises, etc.) will be affected. Hon Hai Precision Industry’s factory is located in Chengdu, where it produces iPads, Apple Watches, and more. The planned power outage is due to high temperatures and reduced rainfall in China. The highest temperature in Sichuan sometimes exceeds 40 degrees Celsius. A cadre in Sichuan Province said that July has ushered in a 60-year high temperature weather. The sweltering heat continues, and the demand for electricity is expanding. There are many mountainous areas in Sichuan, and hydropower is the main power generation method. However, the rainfall in July decreased to about half of the previous year, and the power generation decreased.
