To improve accessibility Debian considers loading non-free firmware by default

The Debian community discussed loading nonfree firmware by default for improved accessibility. If blind users need to run the installer in text-to-speech mode, the audio firmware may need to be loaded first. Currently, Debian distributions do not load non-free firmware by default, and it is very difficult for blind users to explore and adjust by themselves. Therefore the Debian developers propose to include non-free firmware in official images. Non-free software is still explicitly opposed, and users can enable non-free components themselves if desired.
