Chinese phone maker Oppo demonstrated 240W fast charging technology at this year’s Mobile World Congress, which can fully charge a smartphone in less than 10 minutes. The technology, known as 240 W SuperVooc Flash Charge, is not currently available for commercial use. Oppo’s fast-charging ambitions appear to have no limits. One of the company’s brand managers even recently said that one day smartphones will be fully charged in one second . Edward Tian, the head of Oppo’s lab that develops fast-charging technology, admits that speeding up charging is not an easy task, and factors such as safety, charging temperature, battery cell energy density, charger size, battery life, and more need to be considered. Oppo’s fast charging technology is among the most advanced in the industry, and on the OnePlus 10T, its 150W fast charge can fully charge in 19 minutes.
