If it is said that how to have a stable personal evaluation system is about “choices and goals”, then what we are going to talk about today is the route to achieve goals.
Everyone needs to have a strategy of their own to gradually achieve their goals. The goal is matched with the strategy, and the only thing left is to strive to achieve each Milestone in the process of strategy, and finally achieve your own goal.
The importance of strategy cannot be overstated.
The next point is: what is strategy?
A strategy or strategy refers to a high-level, all-round long-term action plan formulated to achieve a certain goal (such as a political, military, economic, commercial, or national interest goal).
Wikipedia
From the Wikipedia description, we can extract several key definitions
- The setting of the strategy should be to achieve a certain goal : first have the goal and then have the strategy, rather than first have the strategy and then think about the goal.
- A strategy should be a long-term action plan : A strategy means that you have to make a long-term plan, which may be one year, three years, five years, or even ten years. But certainly not one week, two weeks, that’s called Plan or Todo.
- Strategy should be a high-level, holistic plan : High-level means that the strategy is focused on something that works in the long term, not what is valuable in the short term. The pursuit is more about long-term value; the omnidirectional reminds us that strategy is not just what we can see at a glance, but also what we need to think carefully to realize.
But the above still seems a bit vague and unenforceable. Are there any more enforceable suggestions?
1. The core of the strategy is focus
The point of strategy is not what you are going to do, because that is already defined by the goal. Instead, strategy defines what you don’t do. The reason we choose to do something may not be important, but the reason we choose not to do it is very important, because it represents the thinking behind it.
Similarly, because strategy is a more long-term process, we must determine which things are important, and there are often only a few important things. If you have 30 strategies, then the high probability is not strategy, but tactics.
2. The strategy needs to find the key points
The strategy is to solve a longer-term problem and solution. In this process, what you need to do is to find the key point as much as possible, and reduce your subsequent implementation cost by leveraging a key point. If the strategy is developed, but the key point is not found, it may make your goal further and further away from you.
However, if your ability and judgment are not enough for you to find the core key points of the strategy, you can set an indicator first, try it out quickly, and deduce whether the current indicators and means can continue to produce effects and value. Then decide the key points of the strategy.
Some core judgment points include:
- Don’t pollute while cleaning : Polluting while cleaning means you can’t reach your goal forever, you can get close to your goal indefinitely, but you can never reach your goal.
- Equality of power and responsibility : When designing a strategic system, it is often necessary to collaborate with others to achieve it. When it comes to cooperating with others, we must pay attention to the equality of rights and responsibilities. Also, try to set up Plan B for someone else’s part, and don’t be in a situation where you lose everything if you’re not careful.
