Red Hat has released its latest enterprise distribution, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (RHEL 9), based on the first production release of the rolling update distribution CentOS Stream. Red Hat switched to a rolling distribution model after taking over the community distribution CentOS, which went from a downstream RHEL-based version to an upstream version of RHEL. Red Hat’s press release is full of marketing jargon, and RHEL 9 itself isn’t actually officially available to customers, and a detailed release announcement can be found in the RHEL 9 beta notes.
