Oracle changes the subscription model of Java SE, and enterprise customers face a large increase in fees. Oracle’s old subscription model for Java SE was per-user or per-processor, and the new model is per-employee. Oracle currently says that existing customers can renew under the old model, but there is no guarantee that it will ask customers to switch to the new subscription model in the future. Under the new model, corporate customers pay an average of two to four times more, analysts said. Critics say the new licensing scheme is “predatory”.
