Titanium Media App reported on May 23 that on May 23, Bloomberg quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that Broadcom is in advanced negotiations to acquire VMware Inc., which is likely to become one of the largest acquisitions this year. The tech companies are discussing a cash-and-stock deal that could come soon if talks don't fall apart, the people said. It is reported that VMware has a market value of $40 billion, and Broadcom has a market value of about $222 billion. In April 2021, Dell Technologies announced that it would divest its 81% stake in cloud computing software maker VMware to shareholders, a move that will help Dell cut debt, Reuters previously reported. In November of the same year, Dell completed the divestiture of its 81% stake in VMware to create an independent software company. VMware said the spinoff would gain operational and financial flexibility while maintaining a strategic partnership with Dell.
