Apple announced on April 20 that it has used certified recycled gold in its products for the first time, and more than doubled the amount of recycled tungsten, rare earth elements and cobalt.
This certified recycled gold is used in the plating of the motherboard and the metal wires of the front and rear cameras of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro. To this end, Apple has taken the lead in following an industry-leading traceability mechanism, creating a gold supply chain for exclusive recycled content.
In 2021, nearly 20% of all materials used in Apple products will be recycled materials, a new record for the use of renewable materials.
In addition, Apple also announced its latest recycling technology innovation “Taz”. Compared with the recycling of traditional electronic products, this machine can use a pioneering method to improve the efficiency of material recycling.
