Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket fails to launch

The 23rd launch of the New Shepard rocket of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin company failed . The rocket crashed and the capsule was unmanned. Its escape system was successfully activated and separated from the rocket, and it landed safely using a parachute. The accident did not cause any casualties. Blue Origin has been in trouble for a while, partnering with United Launch Alliance (ULA) in 2014 to supply the BE-4 rocket engine for the latter’s new rocket, the Vulcan, but the engine has still not been delivered by the second half of 2022. It sent the first flight version of the BE-4 engine to Texas for validation testing six weeks ago, only to discover a problem at the start of the hot-fire that required sending the engine back to the factory. ULA’s Vulcan rocket is largely unlikely to make its first test flight in 2022 , barring a miracle.
