Boeing agrees to pay $200 million to settle 737 MAX crash probe

Boeing agreed to pay $200 million to settle a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into allegations that the company and its former chief executive made misleading statements about the safety risks of two 737 MAX planes after the planes crashed. The SEC announced Thursday that former Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg agreed to pay $1 million to settle the SEC’s allegations. The company and Muilenburg settled with the SEC without admitting or denying wrongdoing. Boeing said it had made company-wide changes in response to the 737 MAX crash, including improved safety processes and increased transparency.
