I remember that I learned about this poem only after listening to the Taoist program “One Thousand and One Nights”; although I can’t do what is written in the following poem, I hope it can be so.

There is more than one Chinese translation version, the following is the version I heard when I first came into contact with this poem, and the translator is Cheng Bi 2 .

Not afraid of the rain

Not afraid of the wind

Not afraid of winter snow and heat

have a strong body

no desire no desire

never get angry

always smile calmly

Daily meal half a liter of brown rice

with miso and some vegetables

to everything

not overthinking

listen more

insight into mind

Living in the shade of wild pine trees

small thatched cottage

there are children in the east who are sick

just go to the nursing care

There are mothers in the west who are tired

just go and help her carry the rice bundle

someone is dying in the south

just go tell him not to be afraid

quarrel or conflict in the north

just say it’s boring please stop

shed tears in drought

fidgeting in cold summer

everyone call me a fool

not praised

don’t suffer

i want to be like this
