For designers, multilingual design is a very important link in the design of overseas products. It allows products to have the most basic potential to adapt to different regions, and also provides a good environment for the translation and presentation of localized content. According to the actual design process path, the course introduces several key points and relevant suggestions that need to be understood when dealing with multilingual products:
· Recognize the differences between languages , such as differences in character shape, content length, vocabulary boundaries, and reading order, etc., and fully understand the key differences between languages, so as to better formulate design strategies. It is recommended that the startup design learn about the language range supported by the product from the business side in advance.
· Multilingual design needs to meet the two principles of readability and inclusiveness . Paying attention to character readability and content readability can help users use the product more smoothly; satisfying layout inclusiveness and cognitive inclusiveness can make content adaptation more flexible, and serve users in different cultural backgrounds.
· In the actual design implementation , the analysis and processing of specific problems can be carried out from the four dimensions of basic style, general layout, component use and icon design. For example, pay attention to the text space and paragraph space, and how to better handle the language display of different lengths and boundaries while meeting the demands of product content display. When choosing common components, such as labels, buttons, tabs, etc., the usage strategy is also slightly different from Chinese products.
