Core class and national identity

Recently I saw a ridiculous video titled ” How does the United States, where individualism prevails, establish a national identity?

Spoiler: In the early days of the United States, the United States was originally a loose alliance of 13 states, and they could not piss into each other’s pots. However, the federal government, as an institution that can raise money and people in name only, obtained a large amount of undeveloped land in the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. For the sake of personal dreams of getting rich, planters and ranchers went to war with the native tribes of North America and took up guns to defend the land they had seized personally or by their ancestors. Although the boundaries of the 13 states were clear, the federal government tacitly allowed the expansion of the borders. This act also allowed white people outside the country to use taxes in exchange for the protection of federally appointed peace officers and federal force. A national identity was gradually formed through the process of alienating and expelling the indigenous peoples of North America.

In fact, the bloody national identity of the United States was one of the origins of Nazism in the 1930s (Wapo has talked about it) . To put it simply, after the discovery of America, those who dared to leave old Europe and cross the ocean were daring desperadoes. The Manifest Destiny they believe in is the “Promised Land”, and the core concept of Protestantism is “sola fide”. If I am strong, I am justified, and if justified, I am strong, so I am superior to other species. Eventually it developed into racism and oppressed other races.

The creator of this video is “Think Lab”. Their videos have some unexplainable weirdness but the subject matter is quite interesting. This video conveniently ignores a more interesting question of whataboutism: How is national identity established across the Pacific?

There is reason to believe that the establishment of China’s national identity is precisely armed colonization .

When discussing the enfeoffment system in the early Zhou Dynasty, Bai Shouyi’s version of “General History of China” directly said that this was armed colonization.

The enfeoffment in the early Zhou Dynasty was an armed garrison enterprise. Its purpose was mainly to serve as an assistant to the royal family to monitor the conquered people of all ethnic groups. In fact, it had the nature of armed tribal colonization. We know that the only land that the Zhou king could directly rule at that time was the land of Wang Wei. Wang Ji took Haojing and Luoyi as his two focal points. Their scope cannot be confirmed at present, but it is known that it does not reach the Yellow River in the north, the Han River in the south, the Huai River in the east, and Haojing in the west is close to the border. In addition to the royal territory, the Zhou royal family successively created many vassal states. The princes’ obligations to the royal family were only to pay tribute and make pilgrimages on time, to send troops to assist the king in his conquests, and to relieve disasters in the territory. The vassal states had almost complete autonomy in their internal affairs, and after King Wu became the king in the early years of the founding of the royal family, the vassal states’ obligations to the royal family became official.

On the other hand, most of the newly-established feudal states were dominated by a small number of Zhou slave-owning aristocrats who ruled over the majority of the conquered people. The land was not owned by the Zhou people, and the people were not similar to the Zhou people. The dominance of these newcomers would not matter if It cannot be sustained without strong force as its backing. Jiang Taigong was granted the title of Yingqiu in the east. History books say that Taigong went to the Eastern Kingdom, “walked at night and plowed the country at dawn. The marquis of Lai came to attack and competed with him for the Yingqiu.” “The Yingqiu is surrounded by Lai, and the Lai people , barbarians” (both see “Historical Records: Qi Taigong Family”), the new rulers occupied their land and owned their people, so they rebelled. “Book of Rites Tan Gong Shang” says: “The Taigong was granted the title of Yingqiu, and after five generations, they were all buried in the Zhou Dynasty.” This shows that armed colonization was not easy at that time. After the enfeoffed Zhou slave-owning aristocrats and the Zhou commune peasants led by them entered the vast occupied area, they first established a military stronghold, which was named “city” in ancient literature. Only in this way could they carry out force suppression. In “The Book of Songs·Xiaoya·Millet Miao”, Mu Gongying was called to thank the army. The poet described the situation of the military clan’s market town and said: “I am responsible for my chariot, my chariot and my oxen. When I travel, I gather, and the clouds cover the clouds and return! I am a disciple, I am a royal, We are teachers and we are traveling together. When we travel together, we will return to our destination!” Zhou people and their in-laws allied themselves to build states and cities, and garrisoned and conquered areas. This is also seen in Zhou and Jin inscriptions. For example, “Zhongyi” although the inscription is incomplete, it is difficult to After reading it, the general idea can still be understood. Meaning: The king sent a central patrol to the southern country, built cities and colonized the country, and sent troops to garrison. “Ban Rui” records that Mao Gong conquered the Dong Kingdom ■Rong, and ■ ordered Ban to “■ (use) the Nai tribe to follow his father (Mao’s father), and ■ (go) ■ (city) to defend.” Mao Gong’s eastward expedition “Jingdong Kingdom three years ago” “. The ■ (city) here is the proof of conquest and city building.

This joke says that when Jiang Ziya went to Shandong to “take office”, he was actually given a few soldiers and chariots. He had to grab the land and build the city by himself. Taigong was almost killed by a local indigenous tribe in Shandong called “Lai” Get killed…

Why are ethnic minorities always “good at singing and dancing” and most of them live in remote mountainous areas? Could another translation mean… tribal reservation?

This reminds me of another joke: Wu Ershan, the director of “Fengshen”, said that [Han titles] were formed in the Yuan Dynasty.

There is a comment below that fits the situation perfectly: “I don’t know whether the Han people originated from the Yuan Dynasty, but I know that the awareness of “I am Han Chinese” was reinforced to me over and over again by these other ethnic groups.”

There is a feeling here that whether it is the “big mother with the sky pattern”, the old Britain who plays with the “positive rice flag”, or the big boy who “grew up under the red flag”, their recognition of class is much greater than that of ordinary citizens. Because the world was conquered by them or their ancestors, there is a sense of “shareholder ownership.” If you are an ordinary person, your nationality in peacetime is nothing more than a line on your identity document that can be changed at a cost.

It also reminds me of the recent bedtime news from Ma Supervisor No. 652 , “Shanhe University cannot be built only by popular enthusiasm” , which talks about the diversion problem between high schools and vocational schools. In reality, there are only one successful vocational education in the world. German family. The predecessor of the vocational school was actually the formalization of the apprenticeship system in industry (academic concept: Kilt) (1969 Berufsausbildungsgesetz ). I have an extreme view that the early prototypes of vocational schools were the product of the Teutonic officer corps, which was used to produce military supplies, farm fields and raise funds. Juncker military households transformed into manufacturing and banking industries in peacetime. A large number of German vocational schools were almost all organized around the automobile industry. In the final analysis, they were a bunch of war-prepared industries.

So who is the master of the country? The core interest class (class) made of blood and fire

Class is a magical word. The “class” of OOP is similar to the “class” of society. If we continue to deduce according to the ideas of this article, we can use previous dynasties as examples to summarize the essence of the demise of dynasties, which is the dissolution of core classes:

  • The core class of Zhou people is the Lao Ji family. After the three families were promoted, gg. The prince replaces the emperor
  • Da Qin is a magical country. After the reform, the world was governed by law regardless of race or class. However, after the unification, the merit upgrade system reached the limit of military expansion and was spoiled. The king of Han established the Three Qin Dynasties, which was regarded as the second time that the old Qin people unified China.
  • The old Liu family will have to wait until Liu Che’s big move to completely wipe out the Peixian Group. At that time, watching the “Emperor of Han Dynasty ” series by Bohai Official was like watching the American western spirit and cowboy style in the first video at the beginning. Li Guang was difficult to seal, and the old Liu family had no seal for careerists, which led to the operation of Cao Ahao and Jiuxi.
  • The core class of Lao Li’s family is the Guanlong Group. The Anshi Rebellion was a conflict between Hebei natives (mainly Han people) and Shaanxi foreign mercenaries.
  • The core class of the Liao and Jin Dynasties was obviously the Tuoba tribe and Meng’an Muke. The nature of the Dazang Kingdom was a group of Jiedu envoys who had no ambitions but had better fundraising capabilities than other dynasties.
  • The core class of the Yuan Dynasty is the thousand-household system Daru Hua Chi.
  • The core class of the Ming Dynasty was the military household that supported the royal family and raised pigs. If all the military households are gone, it’s time for the country to perish.
  • The core class of the Qing Dynasty was the Eight Banners. If the whole city falls, it will be over
  • The core class of this dynasty is☭

Except for the inheritable interest groups formed by the core class, the others were either the surrendered labor force of the barbarians or the “extremely vicious” Indians.
