If we do not need to accurately determine the source of service requests and the location of user IP, using the IP allocation data updated daily by the world’s five largest RIR institutions will be a low-cost solution (free) compared to using commercial IP databases. This article discusses how to properly handle IP registration data from five of the world’s top Internet registries (RIRs), APNIC, ARIN, RIPE NCC, LACNIC and AFRINIC.
