Darth Vader’s voice will be synthesized with AI in the future

During the creation of the Star Wars TV series Obi-Wan Kenobi, James Earl Jones signed an agreement to allow Disney to use AI to synthesize its voice in future projects. Jones, 91, has voiced Darth Vader, Star Wars’ most famous villain, for 45 years. He had long considered quitting, but without his signature voice, where would Black Jazz go? The answer is Respeecher , an AI speech modeling tool. Developed by a Ukrainian company, the tool uses deep learning to model and replicate the human voice so that it is hard to tell the difference between the real and the fake. Before that Lucas used Respeecher to clone the voice of Luke Skywalker Mark Hamill in The Mandalorian.
