FDA orders suspension of Juul e-cigarettes

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday ordered Juul Labs to stop selling all of its vaping products in the United States. Juul could seek a stay of the order through the FDA’s appeals process or in court. The FDA said some of Juul’s submissions to the agency raised concerns because of insufficient and conflicting data, including potentially harmful chemicals leached from the company’s vaping pods. However, no evidence has been received of any immediate dangers associated with the use of Juul e-cigarettes. The FDA told Juul on Thursday that all of its products on the market must be removed or the agency could take enforcement action against Juul and retailers. Law enforcement will not take action against consumers who use Juul products.
