finite and infinite worlds

Take a piano. The keys begin, the keys end. You know there are 88 of them, nobody can tell you any different. They are not infinite. You are infinite. And on these keys the music that you can make is infinite. I like that. That I can live by. — The legend Of 1900

I’m imagining a finite world that’s confined to a small area where you can only explore, but not beyond its boundaries.

Such a description may be too abstract, but it can be compared with concrete examples: is it a menu with limited levels and few functions in the iPod, is it a closed school, a community that cannot be accessed during the epidemic, or is it a “Piano at Sea”? The ship on which he lived his whole life in 1900.

They all have some common characteristics: because they are limited in scope, the degree of exploration will gradually saturate with time, and show a trend of diminishing marginal benefits.

Living in a finite world, we experience repeated scenery every day. However, if you are willing to put your mind to explore, you may be able to find easter eggs, sometimes fleeting, sometimes insignificant, but we can still marvel at its appearance and feel that it brings a different experience.

During the days when the university was closed, I climbed to the tops of almost all the buildings in the school and carefully admired the different sunsets and scenery. On the roof of a liberal arts building, I found graffiti on the wall. This feeling is like finding other intelligent life forms other than human beings in a lonely galaxy.

This is the limited world, and the repeated scenery every day may make you feel bored, but it also makes you think invisibly and discover the unknown in the known.

Then there is the infinite world. Here, every step can be a new exploration, the scenery along the way can never be repeated, and the exploration will never become saturated.

Modern man lives in an infinite world. We are ingesting new information every day, but we rarely think about how to digest it.

The previous world did not have such an excessive amount of information flow as it is now. Ordinary people need to do their best to obtain some information, so they have a lot of time to chew on the information they have already obtained.

Read a book over and over for dozens or hundreds of times, and every sentence will be recalled unconsciously in their minds. In their daily life, in their idle time, they suddenly pop up and suddenly have new insights.

But when we come to us, we spend very little time thinking every day, we pursue dry goods, pursue conclusions, and directly use the opinions compiled by others, and firmly believe in them.

As a result, everyone’s mind is full of thoughts, but most of these thoughts are not their own, just a one-sided conclusion. Everyone is very good at attacking each other with these conclusions that have been reached, but few people know that these conclusions are out process.

All human problems stem from the inability to sit quietly in a room alone. In an infinite world, we sometimes need to build a finite world for ourselves, and let our thoughts fly, collide, and sparkle.
