There is a trick that allows attackers to hijack a victim’s WhatsApp account and gain access to personal messages and contact lists. The method relies on the mobile operator’s automated service to forward calls to a different phone number, as well as the option of WhatsApp to send a one-time password (OTP) verification code via a voice call. MMI code tricks Rahul Sasi, founder and CEO of digital risk protection firm CloudSEK, released some details about the method, which he said was used to hack WhatsApp accounts.
