Intel will make chips for MediaTek

The chip giant announced on Monday that it will produce chips for MediaTek . MediaTek is the fourth largest fabless chip design company, ahead of AMD and behind Broadcom, Nvidia and Qualcomm. MediaTek’s revenue reached $17.6 billion last year, up 61 percent from a year earlier. In addition to designing chips for smartphones, MediaTek designs chips used in cars, Chromebooks, tablets, networking products, and IoT and smart home devices. Intel said the deal would give MediaTek a more resilient supply chain. Intel’s foundry is the chip used in MediaTek’s smart edge products.
