In my opinion, the independent station represents autonomy and control . As technicians, we may scoff at the domestic Xinchuang, but we must understand that what we scoff at is the behavior of changing open source technology to be called independent research and development, not the self-controllable demands.
If you only use platforms such as Twitter, WeChat official account, etc., then the problem you may face is – if you accidentally break the boundaries of the platform, your account will be directly banned, making your account inaccessible, and all your creations History burned to the ground. Even if your content may not be considered risky by the government, the platform may pre-ban your account for its own protection. As a creator, the risk is huge that years of work you have worked so hard to accumulate can be wiped out overnight.
But if you have your own independent site, then when there is a problem with a certain platform, you can still maintain and publish based on your own independent site, and you still have the controllability of your own independent site. In this case, the independent station is your own core position, and other platforms are just one of your operating channels. Channels can be changed at will, and the independent station is your foundation.
Of course, you also need to pay attention to what is more reliable when choosing an independent site. For example, the generic top-level domains (gTLDs) under the direct jurisdiction of ICANN are more controllable than the domain names (ccTLDs) managed by various countries (national domain names may be out of national interests. ban, while gTLDs under the direct jurisdiction of ICANN are not).
