An anonymous reader wrote , “Dr. Web’s report shows that four phones, including the Redmi Note 8 and Huawei Mate 40, are pre-installed with backdoor software. These backdoor software have the ability to execute arbitrary code, and one of the targets is to eavesdrop on WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business chat logs. Technical analysis revealed that libcutils.so and libmtd.so in the system partition were maliciously modified to provide arbitrary code execution capabilities.”
