The following content is only a personal record and does not make any investment advice.

In 2022, I once wrote about my US stock investment strategy . Now it is 2023. I have also experienced a round of buying and selling, and increased investment, so I will review the changes in my position in the past year.

Holdings in 2022

In 2022, my positions are mainly $AAPL, $MSFT, $NVDA and $FUTU, four stocks. The cost of the overall input is 26,071.74 Hong Kong dollars, which is approximately equal to 3,330.38 US dollars.

Holdings in 2023

In 2023, my holdings will have some changes compared to last year.

1. Using two brokers at the same time

Currently, I am using both Futu Niu Niu and Long Bridge as my US stock trading broker. The main reason for switching to Longbridge is that it is free of commissions for life (the loss of commissions in stock trading is quite exaggerated).

2. There have been many changes in the position, and the overlap with last year is 0%

In 2023, I will replace some of the positions I held last year with new ones, so I can take the opportunity to chat.

Let me talk about the part that is removed from my position

$AAPL I bought at $156.03 and sold at $175. The position is held for about 1 year, with an annualized rate of about 10%. At the moment of writing, the price of $AAPL is $174.310. Apple sold because I wanted to transfer funds from Futu to Changqiao, so I sold it instead of transferring to a broker (I found that transferring to a broker is calculated according to the stocks held, and the loss of funds after the sale is even lower. Some). At that time, I mainly wanted to reduce some commissions, but in fact my US stock transactions are not frequent, so is this transfer really meaningful?

I bought $FUTU at $42.30 and sold it at $49.03. I held the position for 1 year and 2 months, with an annualized rate of about 13.77%. At the moment of writing, the price of $FUTU is $49.21. Futu’s buying strategy was mentioned in the previous article, and the selling strategy is consistent with $AAPL. No longer.

I bought $NVDA at 214 dollars and sold it at 271.37 dollars. I held the position for about 1 year and 2 months, with an annualized rate of about 21.79%. At the moment of writing, the price of $NVDA is $435. The buying strategy of NVDA was mentioned in the previous article, because I couldn’t buy 3090, I bought some $NVDA. But from the current point of view, I think I am still too young. One is that there was no need to transfer positions at that time, and it is completely acceptable not to trade. You should hold back your mental cleanliness. The other one is that I have no perception of the growth of $NVDA. I sold it in March of this year. ChatGPT was already popular at that time. For me, an early ChatGPT user, I can actually predict that it will be good for $NVDA. But at that time, it was sold for a reason of reducing the commission. too young!

I bought $MSFT at 295 dollars and sold it at 318.83 dollars. I held the position for about 1 year and 2 months, and the annualized return was about 6.69%. At the moment of writing, the price of $MSFT is $319.780. The selling logic of $MSFT is also relatively simple, mainly to transfer positions, not much to say. After I sold $MSFT, it didn’t rise much, so my heart is not as heavy as $NVDA. But looking back, it’s still not a good investment decision.

Let’s talk about the part kept from my holdings

$API, I can’t remember the price I bought at that time, but the current price is $2.96, and my cost is $11.68, but because I didn’t buy much, it’s okay, the total is only about $300. The current total value is about $74, holding for about 1 year, and the annualized return is about -74.66%. For now, I may continue to buy $API to lower my average holding cost. In addition, this part of the purchase may not be particularly large. According to the current situation, I may buy another 100 shares to bring the average holding cost to about $5.

I have contacted the company $API. Generally speaking, I think it has mastered the advantages of core technology and experience in the field of real-time interaction. So I’m still bullish. Of course, the original price of more than 100 knives was indeed crazy. It’s just that I didn’t expect the daily price to be $3 now.

But on another level, $3 is also at a cheap enough price. For me, as long as the total amount purchased is less than a certain value, I am still willing to buy. The margin of safety is sufficient.

Finally, let me say that I added new stocks to buy

In 2023, my new stock is $PDD

The purchase price of $PDD is $72.804, bought on 2023.05.18, holding 24 shares, the price at the moment of writing the article is $81.20, and the total value is $1948.8. The reason for buying $PDD is that I use PDD more on a daily basis, and what PDD does is “cheap”. This is the eternal competitiveness. I am optimistic about it (but I may be wrong).

The purchase price of $DIS is $86.498, bought on 2023.08.07, holding 33 shares, the price at the moment of writing the article is $86.340, and the total value is $2849.38. The buying logic of $DIS is derived from Disney’s star-making movement. From Mickey Mouse in the past, to Disney Studios later, and to Rena Belle now, the vitality of $DIS seems to never be a problem. Considering the strongest legal department in the western hemisphere, I bought it.

$BRK.B buy price is $329.760, 2023.05.18, holding 1 share, the price at the moment of writing the article is $355.70, the total value is $355.79. What $BRK.B buys is sentimentality. After all, you have entered the door of value investing, so you still have to buy a share to commemorate it. What if I can be selected to listen to the old man’s speech next year?

Summarize

From 2022 to 2023, on the whole, I will make various tricks frequently. I hope that in the new year, I can invest more rationally, and read more books, and don’t make foolish moves. . .
