Netflix says suspension of Russian operations drags down 700,000 paid subscribers

Streaming video company Netflix’s first-quarter earnings report released today showed that its global paid subscribers dropped by a net 200,000 in the first quarter, dragging its stock price down more than 20% in after-hours trading… Netflix explained that the company suspended service in Russia And the phasing out of all paid memberships in Russia dragged down a net loss of 700,000 global paid subscribers. Excluding this impact, Netflix added 500,000 net paid subscribers worldwide in the first quarter.
