Netizens who download pirated blockbusters from BT torrents suffer, multiple IP addresses are captured by the film party: face high compensation

The risk of BT download piracy is getting bigger and bigger.

According to media reports, a few days ago, the popular movies “The Expendables 3”, “The Disciple”, “After” and other filmmakers listed a list of 63 IP addresses and applied to the Hawaii court for a DMCA anti-infringement subpoena.

With a subpoena, they can ask the ISP to provide the real user information behind the IP address to initiate a claim.

The report said it was relatively easy to track down BitTorrent piracy because IP addresses were broadcast publicly. With the help of an internet provider, these addresses can be linked to account holders.

Since the beginning of this year, film production companies have successfully locked 53 IP addresses and their users through this method. Although not every time can get enough compensation, but the film party believes that the genuine deterrent force formed by this action is the result they want.
